Big entry expected for Hillview junior tennis

This week the Hillview Junior Open week will be in full swing with an expected entry of over 170 players.

Already entries have been received from as far away as Dublin, Cork, and Limerick.

The under 10 boys and Girls will be playing on Sunday 11th starting at 10.00am. Therefore the courts will not be available for casual play during the day.

The under 12, 14, 16 and 18’ s will start on Monday 12th at 10.00am. Play will continue until 6.00pm in the evening. The finals are scheduled for Saturday 17th. The Club had a great response from members during Senior open week and it would be great if members had some fee time during the day to help with the tournament or the catering. If available please contact Phil Darrer (Lady Captain). The Club is greatly appreciative of the continued sponsorship of Frank Quirke, Barrister of Law, Clonmel.

On Tuesday 30th July last there was another very good turnout for the annual Tuesday scramble. Overall Nett Winners were tom Noonan, Con Lucey, Frankie Gubbins & Tim Shanley with 56¼. Nett Runners-up were Evelyn Cahill, Frank Costigan & Eoin Shanley with 60. Overall Gross Winners were Margaret Ryan, Mattie Anglin & Danny Gibbons with 72.

Graded Matchplays:

The Clonmel Credit Union club Graded Matchplay’s Draws are on the Pitch and Putt kiosk window. All players who entered please take note of when matches are to be played by. The onus is on the player on top to arrange the match. A lot of 1st Round Games still need to be played. All matches are off scratch.

August Nett Strokeplay:

All Hillview players please note that the annual August Nett Strokeplay will commence on Thursday 1st August. It will continue until Saturday 31st August. The entry fee will be €2.00 per-card. Play as many cards as you like with the best two 18 hole scores to count.

Badminton:

Hillview Social badminton takes place every Tuesday at 9.00pm and Friday at 8.00pm. All standards are very welcome.
