Slievenamon

Last weekend saw the start of our 2011 competitions when we had the Moloney foursomes with 16 to qualify for matchplay. Saturday was a real spring day while Sunday was a little damp and breezy. A large crowd played both days. The course was in excellent condition with the greens coming in for special praise. All the sanding done on the fairways in the last few years is really paying dividends now with the ball bouncing on the fairways despite heavy rain the week before. There were sixteen pairs to qualify and as usual the scoring was very hot. Michael Keaty and Michael O’Brien led the qualifiers with a superb 64. Only some 69’s qualified. The following is the draw for the matchplay stage.
