The County Road relays were held in Dundrum last Saturday night in good conditions. The Club team of Cliona Doyle (800m), Aine Roche (1500m), Fiona Barlow (800m) and Angela McCann (3000m) combined very well to win the County title in 22 mins 11 secs. This was a great performance all round with Fiona Barlow winning her first County Senior Gold medal.

Then our 2nd team of Valerie Connolly (800m), Norma Sorohan (1500m), Rhona Boyle (800m) and Regina Burke (3000m) combined very well to win the Bronze medals in 28 mins 35 secs. This was a great team effort as all four athletes were making their Championship debut for the Club in this event and they all should be very pleased with their performances.

In the Men’s race our team of Niall O Ceallaigh (800m), Evan Egan (1500m), Brian Looram (3000m) and William Maunsell (5000m) ran very well to win the Bronze medals in 36 mins 7secs.

Clonmel – Best Club in the County

The relays brought the curtain down on the County Road scene and when all the performances over the 16 events that make up the County Road season were added up, Clonmel came out on top as the Best overall Club for 2012. The Club would like to thank all our members who competed in the County Road Championships as they all played their part in helping the Club win the Michael Cahill Cup.

First Club in Munster

This year, 2012, the Club has seen a fantastic increase in Club membership at all levels, Juvenile, Senior and Masters. To date, at the end of August, we have 185 Juveniles, 200 Masters and 45 Senior athletes registered and still 4 months to go before the end of year. This has seen the Club ranked 6th in Ireland and Number 1 in Munster, well done to all concerned.

Dingle Marathon

This very popular event took place last Saturday. Conor Fleming ran well when finishing 16th in 3 hours 10 mins 42 secs having reached halfway in 90 mins 37 secs to finish 4th over 40. Conor Morkan ran well when finishing 39th in 3 hours 18 mins 52 secs, reaching halfway in 97 mins 43 secs.
