This week saw two outings for Clonmel Ladies Hockey Club
In Division 3, Clonmel played Waterford at home on Saturday. Clonmel played a blinder from the start and were 3-0 up after only 20 minutes witha hat-trick for Barbara Ryan. Next goal came from a short corner, Kate Sullivan pushed the ball across to Barbara Ryan, who passed back to Kate who swept to Gemma who drove the ball home. Jenny O’Brien in goal made outstanding saves to prevent Waterford from scoring from breaking balls and from short corners. Play continued with another goal from both Barbara and Gemma. This resulted in a final score of 6-0
In Division 5, Clonmel played at home to leaders Clonakility. It was a tough match for Clonmel that required rigorous play from Jen Quinlan, Betty Barlow and Leah Hyland. Clonmel were unlucky not to score throughout the game as they made many advances on goal. Clonakilty proved too strong for Clonmel and broke through their defence twice resulting in a final score of 2-0.
Reminder to all players, training continues on Tuesday night at 7.30 in Rockwell College and Thursday at 7.30 in Loreto.
