Busy time for Clonmel AC runners

Last Friday night in glorious sunshine the Deadman’s 5 Mile Road race took place in Carrick on Suir. David Ryan ran very well when finishing 3rd Senior man in 26 mins 56 secs. Vasiliy Neumerzhitskiy ran very well to win the over 45 award when 17th overall in 30:07. Angela McCann showed no ill effects from her brilliant run in the Cork Marathon the previous Monday when finishing 3rd Senior Woman in 31:08. We also had good performances from Niall O Ceallaigh 33rd 32:09, James Denn 38th 32:42, Aine Roche 40th 32:48, Dave Johnson 44th 33:43, Ciaran O’Flaherty 48th 33:49, Cyril Fogarty 51st 34:02, James O’Brien 52nd 34:03, Donal Casey 75th 35:36, John Tobin 79th 36:09, Ned O’Brien 80th 36:21, Frank Lynch 86th 36:39, Joe Grinsell 107th 39:17, Alina Neumerzhitskaya who was 1st Junior woman when 118th in 40:23, Donna Nagle 123rd 40:36, Sheila Perry 127th 41:18, Eamon Crowley 130th 41:35, Helen O Ceallaigh 139th 42:13, Hazel Galloway 148th 42:57, Michael Sweetman 151st 44:43, Gary Hallinan 152nd 44:59, Catherine Crotty 167th 49:50 and Tricia Browne 172nd 60:22.

Angela McCann – 2nd in Cork City Marathon

On June Bank Holiday Angela McCann was going for 3 in a row at the Cork City marathon. Angela ran very well when finishing 2nd in 2 hours 55 mins 8 secs, beaten by Olympian Pauline Curley who set a new course record when finishing in 2 hours 47 mins 44 secs. Valerin Thzcoin also ran well when finishing in 3 hours 18 mins 5 secs.

We also had good performances from Breeda Marnane who was competing in her 31st Marathon and she ran very well when finishing in a new PB of 4 hours 27 mins. Cormac Healy who was making his debut over this Classic distance and he ran very well when finishing in 4 hours 27 mins 4 secs.

In the Half Marathon we also had some very good performances with Eileen Cronin finishing in 2 hours 13 mins 5 secs and Julette O Sullivan finishing in 2 hours 29 mins 59 secs.

The AAI Games

The AAI Track and Field Games took place in Santry last Sunday in glorious conditions. In the 1500m race William Maunsell ran very well when finishing 2nd in 4 mins 1.56 secs. Then we had Kevin Maunsell making a very welcome return to competition and a very lengthy lay off due to injury. He opened his season with a very useful performance when finishing 4th in 4 mins 12.26 secs, great to see Kevin back competing well again.

Champion Kiely 5k Road Race – June 28th

This very popular race takes place in Ballyneale on Friday 28th June at 7.30pm. This year the event is sponsored by MSD. The Entry fee is 10 Euros and there are Prizes in all the usual categories as well as Spot Prizes for down the field finishers. This is a flat course and an ideal opportunity for athletes of all abilities to set a Personal Best for this Classic event. For Further details please contact Corneilius McFadden at 087 1221819.

Boston Scientific Half Marathon – 10 weeks to go, 10 reasons to participate

This year’s event takes place on Sunday 18th August at 11am. We are very grateful to Boston Scientific for sponsoring this event again this year. We are also very grateful to LIT for the use of their fine facilities again this year. This year the LIT campus on the Bypass will be the Race Headquarters and the race will also finish in their grounds.
