It was historic in that for the first time in the Club’s history of promoting Open Races we had more women than men competing in a Club promotion. There is a great upsurge of interest in running among women at the moment and this is mainly due to the wonderful success the Club’s Women Meet and Train session has achieved in the past year and especially to the four Coaches – Angela McCann, Donna Nagle, Nicola Maunsell and Pamela Lynch.

The race format was a “Lucky Dip” Draw on finishing positions and we divided the list of finishing positions 1 to 139 into 3 groups – 1 to 40, 41 to 80th place and 81st to 139th. Congrats to the following people who won a Prize, (these Prizes will be presented at race 2): Larry Martin. Matt Alexander, Martin Ivors, Liam Cooney, Kieran Connolly, Jeddy Walsh, Kevin Doyle, Geraldine Phelan, Olga Kelly, Lena Griffin, Sinead O’Connor, Angela Walsh and Ciara Delahunty.

One of the great aspects of running is that you can train and compete at your own pace and still make great progress.
