County Tipperary Community Games would like to wish everybody a happy, healthy and successful 2013. We would like to remind all areas that the next county board meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 9 in Hayes Hotel, Thurles.

This is also the closing date for all area affiliations and team entries for the summer games programme. Forms for both may be downloaded from the Community Games website www.tipperarycommunitygames.com.

There is a very tight schedule planned with some county finals of events on the winter games programme taking place at the end of January and early February so there is no time to waste. Now that there are only two National finals taking place this year many events have being brought forward to weekend one in May. The next few months promises to very busy and exciting.

The county executive were delighted to learn that President, Breeda Christie, Tipperary Town will be among the outstanding sportspeople who will be honoured with an Annerville Award later this month.

Breeda was responsible for founding the games in Tipperary in 1968, her tireless dedication to both athletics, Community Games and the general welfare of children earned her several awards over the years even though she always said “the joy on the face of a child was the only thing she wanted to see”. Congratulations Breeda, it is fitting that you will now add this prestigious award in recognition of years of hard work to your extensive collection.
