Hillwalkers enjoy rambling in the Spring sun

Last Sunday Ray Creaney led a group of 18 from Glangarra Wood to O’Loughlins Castle, while Joan Quinn took 14, also from Glengarra, to the plane wreckage on Greenane and then on to Galtybeg, Galtymore and Cumeenatoung. Hope the brilliant weather both groups enjoyed on the day is a harbinger of things to come.

Also congratulations to Bernie O’Dwyer, Martina Kerrane and Kate and Willie Fahey who completed the Comeragh Bog Trot for the first time last Saturday while best wishes go to Bridget Browne, who in the next few days, is heading off to Nepal for a trek in the Himalayas taking in Everest Base Camp.

Don’t forget that the new Collin’s Press guidebook to walking in Counties Tipperary and Waterford by John G O’Dwyer will be launched Con Ryan (Rural Recreation Officer for County Tipperary) with reception and entertainment beginning at 8pm on Wednesday, April 4, in Kinane’s of Upperchurch. All our ramblers, rockclimbers and hillwalkers are most welcome to attend.

Finally, it’s off to the hills on Sunday next, April 1, with the usual high level hillwalk leaving from outside Cashel firestation at 11am.
