Great sport at Emly’s first 10k walk and road race

Emly village was a hive of activity as Emly Community Council staged its inaugural 10k walk and road-race in glorious sunshine.

A total of 73 runners from throughout Munster competed in the full-scale, professionally-timed road race, with Dundrum’s A.C.’s Kevin Moore completing the course in a time of 35:02 mins while the first lady home was Mallow’s Aoife Carroll in a time of 43:55.

Emly’s Catherine Quish won her senior event in a time of 50:46. Michael Ryan was the fastest local man in a time 46:42.

The 85 walkers were treated to a course with all Emly’s townlands charted and a special Know-Your-Parish quiz to be completed en route.
