The Munster Juvenile Uneven Age & Intermediate Cross Country Championships took place in Castlelyons, Co. Cork on Sunday.
Tipperary athletes fared well winning 1 Munster title (Boys U/9), 14 individual medals, 2 sets of Inter-Club medals both won by Nenagh Olympic A.C. in the Boys U/9 (gold) & U/17 (silver) & 4 sets of Inter-County team medals (1 silver & 3 bronze).
In the Boys U/9 race there was gold for Joe Egan, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. with Cian Hodgins, Nenagh Olympic A.C. in 6th, his team-mate, Tom Walsh in 7th & Aaron Coleman, Newport A.C. in 10th place. Nenagh Olympic A.C. took the Munster title in the Inter-Club competition on 65 points (Cian Hodgins, Tom Walsh, Zac Egan & Filip McIntyre) with Tipperary placing 2nd in the Inter-County competition on 52 points (Joe, Cian, Tom, Aaron, Aaron McLaughlin & Jake Bowe, Moyne A.C.).
Aimee Hayden, Newport A.C. won an individual medal in the Girls U/11 race when she placed 4th & Tipperary took bronze in the Inter-County competition (Aimee, Aoibhin Foley, Clonmel A.C., Kate Burke, Moyglass A.C., Rachel Leonard, Templemore A.C., Aoibheann Slattery, Nenagh Olymic A.C. & Emma Gleeson, Moyne A.C.). In the Boys U/11 race, Tipperary won a bronze Inter-County medal (Stephen Ferncombe, Dundrum A.C., Rory Grace, Nenagh Olympic A.C., Ben O’Sullivan, Newport A.C., Alex Reynolds, Nenagh Olympic A.C., Cillian McDonagh, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. & Jack Nevin, Templemore A.C.). In the Girls U/13 competition, Emma Coleman, Newport A.C. won an individual medal when she finished 5th overall. There were individual medals for both Joshua O’Dwyer, Dundrum A.C. & Jack Hickey, Moyne A.C. when they finished in 5th & 9th place overall in the Boys U/13 race. Ciara Cummins, Nenagh Olympic A.C. finished in 6th place in the Girls U/17 race with her team-mates, Cillian Cullagh & Darren Dunne finishing in 4th & 10th place in the Boys U/17 race. Nenagh Olympic A.C. also won silver in the Boys U/17 Inter-Club competition (Cillian, Darren, Niall McIntyre & Richie O’Donoghue) with Tipperary taking bronze in the Inter-County competition (Killian, Darren, Niall, Richie, Anthony Tobin, Clonmel A.C. & Cormac Dunne, Nenagh Olympic A.C.). In the Girls U/19 competition, Maedbh Moynihan, Clonmel A.C. was 5th with Cora Doyle, Moyne A.C. in 7th place. Tom Hennessy, Nenagh Olympic A.C. won silver in the Boys U/19 race. County Juvenile “B” & Novice “B” Cross Country Date The date for the forthcoming County Juvenile “B” & Novice “B” Cross Country Championships will be Sunday 24th November in the Middlepiece, Turnpike, Two Mile Borris. The “B” championship is confined to athletes who competed in the “A” Championships as well as newly registered athletes. All medallists in the “A” County, Munster & National Championships will be ineligible for the “B” Championships in the year of competition, an athlete who was entered in the A but was injured cannot run.
It is 3 to score in all categories
Medals will be awarded to the scoring members of the first three teams
The first ten (10) runners home at under 09 & 11 will be awarded medals

Nenagh Olympic A.C. to host two further Open Indoor Competitions Nenagh Olympic A.C. will be holding two Open Indoor Track & Field competitions in Nenagh Indoor Stadium. The first competition will be for athletes U/9 to U/12 & will take place on Saturday 7th December with the second competition for athletes U/13 to Junior taking place on Sunday 12th January 2014. Race Walking Workshop
An introductory workshop for coaches interested in race walking will take place at Morton Stadium, Santry on Saturday November 16th at 10.30am. This is open to all interested parties and no previous experience in race walking is required. The workshop will clarify the rules and explain the basics of the event. Coaches attending will be equipped to introduce the event to young athletes in their club. Ireland has won three IAAF World Championships medals in race walking in the last ten years. This is an event that provides an opportunity for success from the county championships to the highest level. If your club wants to provide this opportunity to your members this is the first step. Sports Psychology Workshop
There will be a Sports Psychology Workshop taking place on Thursday 14th November in Clonmel. It takes place at the Bridge Centre next to the Dr Pat O Callaghan Sports Complex, Cashel Road, Clonmel (Next door to the running track) at 7-9pm and will be run by Canice Kennedy. It is open to all athletes and coaches aged 14+ and cost is €5 payable on the night at registration 6.45-7pm.
The workshop is entitled “Concentration for Competition” and aims to assist athletes & coaches prepare for big competitions by developing routines to reduce distractions and focus completely on the task in hand, thereby delivering consistent performances. Winter Coaching Series in Cork I.T. The 4th session of the Winter Coaching Series took place on Saturday 9th November in Cork I.T., Bishopstown, Co. Cork. Tipperary was well represented by Carrick-On-Suir A.C., Clonmel A.C., Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. & Nenagh Olympic A.C. All athletes received T-Shirts, pens & High Viz jackets along with very fine coaching. It was a great finale to a wonderful series & we look forward to meeting up again in the New Year for another series.
