Laura Winston will go down in the history of Clonmel Golf Club as being the first lady winner of the prestigious Centenary Cup.

Last year, 2011 was the centenary of Clonmel Golf Club and the beautiful Centenary Cup was presented to the Club by 2011 captains, Joe Flynn and Ollie Connellan.

The competition was played for by all members of the club over two days last weekend with no less a field than 145 players. Sean Hogan with 44 points on Saturday gave the men some hope of a repeat of the men winning after last year but in glorious sunshine on Sunday, Laura playing off of 27 handicap came home to pip the field by a single shot. And the men didn’t have it all their own way this year with the ladies taking half of the prizes on display.
