Boston Scientific Half Marathon

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, August 19 at 11 am. Preparations are going well for this year’s event but marshalling such a course requires plenty of stewards, so we would be very grateful if people could come forward and give a helping hand for a couple of hours, such help will be very much appreciated and people interested in helping can do so by contacting Niall O’Sullivan at 086 1660888.

This year we have arranged for athletes to run as pacers and they will run at an even pace to achieve their target times. So far we have 2 pacers for each of the following finishing target times: 90 mins (7 mins mile pace), 105 mins (8 mins mile pace), 120 mins (9 mins mile pace) and 135 mins (10 min mile pace). Such target times will be of great benefit to people who may be running their first Half Marathon as they can gauge their progress from these groups.

The entries are coming in well up on last year and one of the features is the large number of local athletes entered and indeed there is also a good entry from the rest of the County and also from County Waterford.

This year “the early bird entry fee” of 25 Euros closes on August 5 and after that date the entry fee is j30. Also please note that the closing date for the postal entries is August 5 .
