The U14 Plate Team and the U12 Cup Team both travelled to Sundays Well Tennis Club on Sunday, October 7, to play their respective finals.

The U14 team were first out, Laura Connolly subbing for the injured Rachael Quinlan, Ciara Fogarty and Sopie Bourke. The boys were Brian Treacy, Kevin Tobin and Alex Marshall. The team all played their singles with the score 3-3 going into the doubles round. Alex and Kevin won their doubles but the girls doubles and the mixed double lost so the overall result was Nenagh 5, Larkspur 4, so a very narrow defeat.

The U12 team of Katie Morrissey, Caoimhe Perdue, Megan Hayes, Michael O’Meara, Jack Maher and Kevin O’Connor played Bishopstown from Cork. The Bishopstown team only fielded five players so the score after the singles round was 3-3. Only two doubles matches were played and the final score was Bishopstown 5, Larkspur 4.

Despite defeat, both teams played fantastic tennis and were a credit to their club. A sincere thanks to the U14 manager, Margo Fogarty and the U12 managers, Sue Morrissey and Josephine Maher. The three managers gave freely of their time and expertise to ensure that both teams were well prepared. Thanks also to coach Tony McCarthy for his commitment to the teams, to Senior Chairperson Benny Dudley and to all the parents and members of Larkspur Tennis Club for their support on the day.
