Last Sunday the county even age juvenile cross country was held in Clonmel. We had 18 athletes competing but found medals hard to come by as we had only two full teams line out. Best performance came from Eimear Loughman who was 3rd in the girls U/16, Jean Kelly 5th in the Girls U/14, Stephen Ferncombe 5th in the boys U/10 and he led home the team of Cormac Carr, Cian Ryan and Finbar Ryan to finish 5th team. Michael Boland was a good 4th in the boys U/18. Others to run well were Mary Louise O’Rourke in the girls U/10, Sinead Ryan in the Girls U/12, Ben Loughman was a good 12th in the boys U/12 and was well supportd by Jack Armshaw and David Carroll. The three lads were out of age and unfortunately we failed to get out a fourth man as medals were on the cards. We had a team in the boys U/14 where Gerry Hayes ran a fine race to lead them home in 6th followed by Cathal Carr, Kieran Browne, Thomas Furlong, Colm O’Dwyer and Tommy Moore. The team was 4th. The uneven age races will be held at The Turnpike Moycarkey on 28th of October and hopefully we will get out more teams on that day.
