It was a great week for tennis at Hillview and after the exciting semi finals of the Winter League on Wednesday, the finalists emerged. In Division 1, the team led by Theresa Drohan won outright, she was ably assisted by that steady duo of Eugene Fogarty and Paddy Kenrick, the other lady was the fast improving Cora Morrissey. They beat Declan Tarrant, Dave Barry, Ann Maire Moroney and Eileen Chambers in the final.

A notable feature of the Div 2 final were the number of new names featuring: the winners were Pat Crowe, Philip Buckley, Ger Gunne and Mary Hoctor, the runners ups were Tony O’Gorman, Niall Darcy (Eugene Cooney subbed in the final), Alison Walsh and Grainne Curtin. Thanks to Phil Darrer our 2013 Captain, for her great work and efforts to ensure tennis ran smoothly all year.

Don’t forget to put your name down for the Santa Club fun night on Thursday December 12.

Last weekend, Evan Whitty Fitzgerald captured the provincial boys under 14 tennis title in St. Annes, Waterford. Playing remarkable tennis throughout the tournament, Evan not alone won the title but with just three to qualify for the nationals, safely secured his spot for that too.
