Clonmel competed on the Shannon at O’Brien’s bridge at the Limerick regatta. Conditions were good with plenty of sunshine but with a tricky breeze on the course.

We had both Junior Men and Junior women competing at various age levels.

In the senior events we had one sculler competing.

In the mens Intermediate II single scull final, Alan Prendergast got his season going with a win in this event beating the Saint Michaels sculler from Limerick in a four boat final.

In the Junior 18 mens single scull Liam McCarthy won both his heat and semi final in impressive style. However in the final Liam went off course and hit a bush and finished up at the back of the pack. Hopefully he can avoid collisions in the next regatta.

In the Junior 18 mens dougle single scull Liam McCarthy and Edmond Morrissey were beaten by Skibbereen in their heat. There were four heats with one from each to the final. The lads were disappointed but Skibbereen went on to win the final. Maybe next time with a better draw they can make the final and improve their racing skills further.

In the Junior Men’s 15 double scull the Clonmel crew of Sean O’Brien and Stewart Channon won their final, beating the Bish crew from Galway.

In the Junior Men’s 14 quads both competed well. This being their first year of racing we do not expect them to win but to compete and enjoy themselves.

Our Junior Women’s 18 coxless four got beaten by Fermoy in a straight final.
