The Clogheen 5k Road Race takes place on Thursday, July 28 at 8pm and is once again sponsored by Elvery’s.
Over the years this race has attracted great numbers and preparations for this year’s race are well advanced.
One of the reasons for its popularity is the distance 5k over what is a good running route. This is an ideal run for athletes aiming to run a 10k later in the year like the Ladies Mini Marathon in Clonmel on September 18.
This year’s race has a very attractive array of prizes catering for all the various categories. The full list of prizes are as follows: 1st 5 Senior Men and Ladies, Master Men – 1st 2 0/40, 0/45, 0/50, 1st 0/55 and 0/60, 1st 3 Junior men, Master Ladies – 1st 2 0/35, 0/40 and 1st Junior Lady. There will also be Spot prizes o be won by down the field finishers. The Entry fee is €10.
Ballynonty 10 Mile Road Race
This very popular race takes place on Sunday, July 31 in Ballynonty starting at 11 am. The entry fee is €10 and the prize list is as follows: 1st 5 Senior Men and Ladies, Master Men – 1st 2 0/35, 0/40, 0/45, 0/50, 0/55 and 0/60. Master Ladies prizes – 1st 2 0/35, 0/40, 0/45, 0/50. Boston Scientific Half Marathon
Preparations for this year’s race are well advanced and the organisers have put together a great event. This year there is a new route with the race starting on the Clonmel Bypass. It will proceed up to the Cahir Road roundabout and onto Barne, then across to Knocklofty and in along the Wood road to the traffic lights at Irishtown.
Here the athletes will turn left and onto the Bypass via Abbey Road and the Poppyfields. On reaching the Bypass the athletes will turn right and down along the Bypass to the finish on the Track at the Dr Pat O Callaghan Sports Complex.
