On Sunday we learned of the passing of Terence McCarthy. A former Captain in 1965 Terence will be fondly remembered for the gentle & kind manner and good humour he afforded to all who came to know him. Former Club Captains and Presidents were among the many club members who attended and provided a guard of honour at the removal on Sunday evening from Fennessy’s funeral home to St Mary’s Church. We extend our sincere sympathies to his family at this sad time.

Lemongrass Magic 20 /15:

The very popular Lemongrass Magic 15 and Magic 20 concluded on Sunday evening last. The qualifiers play off this weekend in a 12 hole V par competition. In the magic 15 the top 15 + ties qualify for the final. Leading the qualifiers in this section were Liam Flynn and Brendan McGuiness on +8 accompanied by Tony O Brien and Tommy Foran also on +8. A total of 29 pairs have qualified in this section with those on + 6 or better advancing to the final.

In the Magic 20 Section a total of 34 pairs have made it to the final with those on + 8 and better reaching the final. Leading pairs included Trevor Gough and Denis Conway Snr and Jim Butler and Paddy Kenrick all on +11. How many short putts were missed that might have qualified some pairs. All finalists are reminded that the final takes place this weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday over 12 holes. The same rules and conditions apply. We extend a sincere thank you to Paul Mullen of Lemongrass for his very generous sponsorship of this competition. The presentation of prizes for the winners of the magic 15 and magic 20 will take place on Saturday evening the 12th March 2011 at 5.30pm.
