Ahead of the highly anticipated Super Sunday Race day on October 7, Tipperary Racecourse and Tipperary Co-op SuperValu today launched a new partnership with Tickets.ie.
The partnership will allow customers to buy tickets for the races in the Tipperary Co-op SuperValu and in 150 selected Centra, SuperValu and selected retail outlets across the country. Shoppers simply ask for a ticket at the checkout and the assistant selects the date on a touch-screen point of sale unit. The ticket is printed out in-store as quickly and easily as a Lotto ticket for later presentation at the turnstiles.
Tipperary Co-op SuperValu has been a proud sponsor at Tipperary Races for over 10 years and this new initiative represents a joint commitment towards building and sustaining community partnerships and offering continued value to patrons.
Pierce Gordon, Manager, Tipperary Co-op SuperValu said: “Tipperary Co-op are proud to partner Tipperary Races and to be selling tickets for the ever popular Super Sunday Raceday at our SuperValu premises. We are delighted to sponsor the Tipperary Co-op SuperValu, Home & DIY flat race on Super Sunday October 7th. It is part of our commitment to supporting local and providing a service to our customers.”
This initiative follows in the footsteps of the GAA who have sold over 220,000 tickets in 2012 through the shops. SuperValu and Centra stores combined have an average weekly footfall of 20,000 customers per store and the list of participating outlets is growing steadily.
Jane Davis, Manager, Tipperary Racecourse: “We are delighted to partner with Tickets.ie. It is a fantastic opportunity for our customers to purchase tickets while shopping at the Tipperary Co-op SuperValu, a much valued sponsor here at the racecourse. Tickets can also be purchased at other Tickets.ie outlets across the county offering the racecourse a new platform to engage with our audience.”
“We are very excited about our Super Sunday fixture. As always it will host top class racing including the Grade 2 Friends of Tipperary Hurdle where we hope to see the Galway Hurdle winning Rebel Fitz back in action in what promises to be an epic renewal. It is Family Day too with free entertainment for children running throughout the day including the Front Runner Racing Club for Kids, the ever popular rodeo bull, inflatable obstacle course and the Mobile Farm. We will also be bringing all the live action from the Prix de l’Arc de Triopme to racegoers with commentary from our parade ring MC’s David Byrnes and At the Race Presenter Kevin O’Ryan and coverage on the big screen.”
