The Munster Master Cross Country Championships took place in Limerick racecourse last Sunday. In the Master Ladies race Martina Ryan of Thurles Crokes ran very well when finishing 12th.

In the Men’s race it was great to see athletes from six Clubs representing the County. Mark Gleeson of Nenagh Olympic ran a brilliant race when finishing 2nd to win the 0/45 award. T Kenny Curran (Ballynonty) was 5th overall and won the 0/40 Bronze medal. James Ryan (Dundrum) was 11th overall and captured the 0/45 Bronze medal. Declan Doherty (Thurles Crokes) was 12th with Donal Horgan (Coolquill) 13th and Derek Nolan (Clonmel) 16th. Michael Moore (Dundrum) won the 0/50 Bronze medal in 22nd place. Vasiliy Neumerzhitskiy (Clonmel) 24th and along with Kenny, James, Declan, Donal and Derek helped the County 0/40 team to Silver medals.

Other athletes that ran well included Tommy Byrnes (Dundrum) 26th, Willie O’Dwyer (Dundrum) 31st, Benny English (Dundrum) 32nd, Matt Alexander (Coolquill) 35th, Liam Casey (Clonmel) 36th, Jim McCormack (Ballynonty) 39th, Jim St John (Clonmel) 46th, Liam Butler (Dundrum) 50th, Billy Prout (Clonmel) 53rd, Christy Ryan (Dundurm) 61st, John Moore (Dundrum) 62nd, Myles McHugh (Clonmel) 70th and T J O’Loughlin (Clonmel) 74th.

The Dundrum team of James Ryan, Tommy Byrnes, Willie O’Dwyer and John Moore won the 0/40 Inter Club Silver medals.

The County team of Michael Moore, Benny English, Matt Alexander and Jim McCormack won the Inter County 0/50 Silver medals. The Dundrum team of Michael Moore, Benny English and Lima Butler won the over 50 Club title.
