Clonmel’s Aine Roche wins in Ballingarry

Clonmel was well represented. David Ryan ran very well going out hard and sharing the lead with former winner and Irish international athlete, Pat Byrne of Tinryland. On the return journey pat increased the tempo to win convincingly. Still David kept the strong tempo going to finish 2nd in 16 mins, 22 secs faster than his run in Touraneena. Then we had Paudie O Keeffe running well when winning the over 40 award when 5th overall in 16:54. Then we had Aine Roche also running very well when winning the Ladies race very convincingly in 19 mins 3 secs, 22 secs faster than her Faugheen’s 5K performance. Niall O Ceallaigh also ran well on his return to racing when 24th in 19:10. Then we had James Denn also running well when finishing 25th in 19:13, 7 secs faster than his Faugheen’s 5K performance. We also had good performances from James O Brien 28th 20:02, Jim St John, great to see him back running again and he ran well when finishing 2nd 0/55 in 20:16, Donal Casey 37th 20:34, 30 secs faster than his Faugheen’s 5K performance, Ned O Brien 38th 20:54, then we had Mary Molloy also running well when finishing 3rd Senior lady in 39th in 20:58, Donna Nagle 48th 22:57, Joe Grinsell 49th 23:02, Pat Tobin 52nd 23:37, Helen O Ceallaigh 55th 24:27 and Eamonn Crowley 58th in 24:45, 27 secs faster than last year’s performance.

Angela McCann wins in Clashmore and Dunmanaway

Angela McCann competed in two events over the weekend at different distances and terrain. On Friday night the Clashmore 5mile event took place and here Angela McCann, agreat supporter of this race, underlined her good form when winning the ladies race very convincingly in 31 mins 15 secs. We had Maurice Boland also running well when finishing 74th in 37:23. Then on Sunday last Angela competed in the Dunmanaway 10K Road race and once again Angela ran very well when winning the Ladies race convincingly in 38 mins 1 sec.

Boston Scientific Half Marathon

This year’s event takes place on Sunday 18th August at 11am. We are very grateful to Boston Scientific for sponsoring this event again this year. We are also very grateful to LIT for the use of their fine facilities again this year. This year the LIT campus on the Bypass will be the Race Headquarters and the race will also finish in their grounds. This year’s race is limited to the first 500 entrants and these will each receive a Special designed high quality Performance T Shirt and Refreshments. There will also be Post Race Refreshments at Race Headquarters. This year there will also be chip timing. The entry fee up to 31st July is €25 and after that date it will cost €35. There will also be Postal Entries and the Closing date is July 31st and the cost is €25. With 8 weeks to go to this major sporting event there is a steady flow of entries and it is good to see many local athletes competing and if this rate continues the Race Limit of 500 will be reached before race day.
