Two walks in County Clare are planned for next weekend.
Due the exposed nature of the area the walks will only go ahead if the weather is favourable and anyone intending travelling should keep in touch with the website, galtewalkingclub.ie, where updates will be posted closer to the time.
The planned events are a 4-hour walk along the Cliffs of Moher on Saturday and a 3.5-hour visit to the Burren National Park, starting from Corofin, on Sunday. The walk facilitators are Rody Tierney and Pat Butler.
Three walks took place on Sunday last in mixed weather conditions. It was wet and windy on the Knockmealdowns for Pat Ryan and his four A walkers who stayed low on an 18km loop from the Vee, taking in the Liam Lynch monument. Danny Bailey had better conditions on Slievenamuck where 6 people enjoyed the trek from Aherlow House as far as Bansha Woods and back by the statue and the Nature Park. A 27 strong C group walked along the River Suir from Kilsheelan To Carrick with Marion Norris and Margaret White before visiting Ormond Castle and returning to Kilsheelan for a tasty feast. Thanks to all.
