Last weekend saw the finish of the National Track & Field Championships with Day 3 & Day 4 taking place in Tullamore Stadium on Saturday and Sunday. There was triumph for Tipp athletes at the National Relays on Sunday when they shared top County on the day with Dublin. There were gold medal wins for Girls & Boys U/13 & Girls U/15 4 x 100m relay teams & bronze for Boys U/15, U/17 & U/19 4 x 100m Relay teams. In the Inter-Club relays, Nenagh Olympic A.C. excelled for the County winning 1 set of gold medals, 3 sets of Silver & 2 sets of bronze. They won National Gold in the Girls U/15 4 x 100m Relay, Silver in the Girls U/13 4 x 100m Relay, the Boys U/18 4 x 400m Relay & the Boys U/19 4 x 400m Relay & Bronze in the Boys U/18 4 x 100m Relay & Boys U/19 4 x 100m Relay.
Day 3 of the Woodie’s DIY AAI Juvenile Track & Field Championships took place in Tullamore Stadium on Saturday and saw Tipperary win 16 more National medals (6 gold, 5 silver & 5 bronze). There were gold medal wins for Phoebe Murphy, Clonmel A.C. (U/15 200m), Deirbhile Ryan, Nenagh Olympic A.C. (U/16 Shot Putt), Aoife Vaughan Witts, Borrisokane A.C. (U/17 Hammer), Darren Prout, Carrick-On-Suir A.C. (U/16 Triple Jump), Aaron Egan, Clonmel A.C. (U/16 3km Walk) & Evan Lynch, Clonmel A.C. (U/18 5km Walk). Silver medals went to Anthony Tobin, Clonmel A.C. (U/16 3km Walk), Sean Glasheen, Tipperary Town A.C. (U/15 Shot Putt), Jade Fahy, Nenagh Olympic A.C. (U/15 Javelin), Dan Finnerty, Nenagh Olympic A.C. (U/18 Long Jump) & Orlaith Moynihan, Clonmel A.C. (U/17 1500m). Bronze medals were won by Simon Archer, Templemore A.C. (U/17 High Jump), Amy White, Nenagh Olympic A.C. (U/15 200m), Oisin Fitzpatrick, Nenagh Olympic A.C. (U/19 Long Jump, Emily Walsh, Carrick-On-Suir A.C. (U/17 Javelin) & Sean Kelly, Templemore A.C. The AVIVA SIAB Schools International took place on Saturday, July 21 in Ashford, Kent. Due to their outstanding performances in the recent All Ireland Schools & Tailteann Games, both Aaron Egan, High School Clonmel & Darren Prout, Presentation, Ballingarry were selected to represent their school & Ireland in this International competition. Aaron (Clonmel A.C.) finished 4th in the 2000m Walk while Darren (Carrick-On-Suir A.C.) came 5th in the Triple Jump with a personal best jump of 13m. The Irish team finished 2nd overall on the day so well done to both athletes on their great performances.
