It was a special occasion for the Solihull-born fighter - who hurled for Tipperary at U-16 level - ahead of his fight of a lifetime against the world title holder Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez when Eoin Kelly and Lar Corbett - two of Tipperary’s most decorated hurling stars of recent years - joined Matthew and his trainer Buddy McGirt at a packed house for a workout before the media at his training camp in the Trinity Boxing Club in lower Manhattan.
