Preschool boys and girls get to meet a real-life ‘Fireman Sam’
The first week of October was Fire Awareness Week, and the children at Cahir Park Preschool were delighted when they got a special visit from Conor Tobin, fireman with Cahir Fire Station.
Conor spoke to the children about what happens when a fire breaks out and how people call the fire brigade.
He showed the children his uniform and explained why he must wear it.
He told the children where the Fire Station was in Cahir and the most important thing was where the Fire Engine is kept.
Conor talked a little about the dangers of fire and how to be careful.
Last but most important of all he let all the children try on his helmet. He was as popular as Fireman Sam with them all!
Geraldine and everyone at Cahir Park Preschool would really like to say a big thank you to Conor for taking the time to go and see them. The children loved his visit as he spoke to them in a child friendly way. They are still talking about his visit.
With lovely weather over the last few weeks, the children have been able to take a few nature walks around the lovely grounds of the park. They collected leaves for their nature table and Brendan Cowen of Cahir Park spoke to the children about the trees in the park. The children enjoyed learning the names of all the trees and how old some of them were.
