Carrick under 15s played Clonmel away last Saturday in the East Munster league and had a great win by 14-12 in a game that could have gone either way at the end.
Carrick defended very well and one of the best performances of the day was from Andrew O’Dwyer who scored the winning try, and Aaron Dunne converted it very well. It was a great team effort.
The under 17s on the other hand struggled in a home development league fixture also against Clonmel where they were short some players. Some basic errors and lack of fitness cost them in the end. The first XV travelled to Midleton to play them in the Munster Junior cup. Midleton struck early with an unconverted try and Carrick defended well only conceding two penalty kicks to be trailing 11 points to nil at half time.
Carrick got off to a good start in the second half through a try by Adam O’Loughlin which was converted by Charlie Boland. Carrick must be commended for the effort displayed but Midleton responded with further tries and conversions to seal victory. Carrick now set their sights on this Sunday’s Munster junior league fixture at home to our near rivals Dungarvan, kick off in Tybroughney is at 2.30pm.
