Ladies beat Bruff in tough rugby league match

The Cashel Ladies travelled to Bruff last Friday night to play their third match of the league, a fast, tough, well faught match from the start.

The Cashel Ladies travelled to Bruff last Friday night to play their third match of the league, a fast, tough, well faught match from the start.

Bruff are a very experienced side. Cashel opened the scoring with a try by Rachel Kelly and converted by Jenny O’Dwyer.

Bruff scored near the end of half time an unconverted try. After half time they scored another unconverted try and a penalty. Cashel’s defence was strong and hard tackles went in. They kept their heads up. What followed was fantastic ball handling Jenny O’Dwyer sailed under the posts to score and then convert the winning try. End result 14-13 to Cashel. Jenny was Cashel’s “lady of the match”. Next match at home next weekend to Abbyfeale.

The u18 girls rugby team made history by playing their first match on Saturday at home to Fethard. The end result was 36-26 to Cashel.
