Munster Senior Cup Semi Final
Cashel travel to Cork next Saturday, October 20, to take on the famous Cork Constitution Club in the semi final of the Munster Senior Cup.
This promises to be a really exciting encounter and the more travelling supporters that attend all the better for Cashel. Kick off is at 2.30pm.
Our U13s pick up where they finished last weekend. With our boys finding their feet in last weeks second half, they brought their performance to an even higher level this week.
With Nenagh as our opposition, Cashel gave a super display of open, fast rugby, a joy to watch.
Our electric wing forward of Harry Tobin opened the scoring with a fine try. Brian O’Connor, Ryan O’Sullivan, Joshua O’Dwyer and John Ryan (Ballydine) also got on the score sheet with some fine displays. Conversions were kicked by Niall O’Dwyer and Ryan O’Sullivan. Our front row three of Matthew Hewitt, Tom Dowling and Richie Lambe were very solid, keeping the scrum together and rucking to a very high standard.
Eoghan Murphy and Jack Ryan Con linked very well. With the return of Kevin O’Connor to scrum half, the Batman and Robin partnership with Ryan O’Sullivan at no 10 came into action.
These two boys have a great understanding between them. Cashel forwards punched gaps in the Nenagh defence which lead to our backs playing open rugby.
With very little kicking, this game was full of action. Ref Donal Clancy acquitted himself well.
Tom Clarke, Brian O’Connor and Niall O’Dwyer displayed some fine tackling with Jack Riordan ball carrying. Replacement Feargail O’Donoghue was a very versatile substitution playing different roles.
Well done Feargail!
Next week training as usual on Friday evening 7pm and Sunday morning 11am. Upcoming fixtures: Sunday, October 28 - East Munster blitz away in Tipperary Town to Clanwillian and Waterford City. U13s host Galbally at home on November 4.
On Sunday morning last, a morning of splendid sunshine, over 200 childrenfrom Fethard and Cashel RFC participated in Spafield Park. With age groups ranging from U7s to U12s, a great morning was had by all. Some great displays from both sides were shown.
It’s brilliant to see the enthusiasm on both sides. Compliments to all coaches and parents for the help given. Some light refreshments were served afterwards.
If anybody would like to participate and become a coach for Mini rugby, there is a course commencing on November 2 and 3.
At the moment we have eight new people coming on board, and would love to see more joining. Registration is almost complete, compliments to everybody! If anyone hasn’t registered yet, contact any of the coaches on training days.
