Carrick firsts continued their Munster Junior league campaign with an away fixture to Kinsale.

It was never going to be easy with a number of players missing through injury, in fact only sixteen players travelled.

Having said that, Carrick played well and were in the lead twice during the game, but were holding out for a losing bonus point by the end of the game, which didn’t come about due to the scoreline of 23-14.

Carrick scores came from a try by Colm O’Dwyer and a drop goal and two penalties by Charlie Boland.

Carrick next play Newport in the league at home on October 28.

The Under 17 lads came up against tougher opposition in playing Cashel at home in the East Munster league. They were never going to win it but the team put in a good effort and some of the newer players did well. Next up in the league is Thurles on October 28.

Girls 10-a-side blitz

On Saturday, Carrick RFC hosted a girls rugby blitz. Fifteen teams with over 150 players from across the province took part in this 10 a side competition. The Carrick under 18 girls won both their games versus Carrigaline and Mallow. The under 16s lost against St. Marys but won against Abbeyfeale and Mallow. Next up for the girls is the Munster 7s blitz in Shannon on November 3. Well done to all involved.
