Carrick RFC had a good win against Thurles in the Munster Junior League Division 2 last Sunday in Tybroughney.

It was all kicks in the first half with Carrick leading at half time by six points to three after two penalty kicks by Charlie Boland.

Thurles went ahead with an unconverted try early in the second half but Carrick soon replied with another penalty kick by Charlie Boland to retake the lead 9:8.

Victory was secured when centre Michael O’Grady crossed the line to touch down in the corner for a try and final score of 14 popints to 8.

This will raise spirits over the Christmas but crucial matches remain in this league.

Carrick’s next action will be in the Munster Junior Cup away to Midleton on the sixth of January. In the meantime Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
