Club History Launch
This Friday, May 10, at 8pm Cashel Rugby Football Club launches it’s eagerly awaited club history book.
Written by Seamus King, a prolific sports writer and author of 14 books mostly to do with our national games, to my knowledge this publication is his first foray into the domain of the oval ball, “Cometh the Hour; Cometh the Man”. Seamus was given invaluable assistance by former club president and current committee member Peter Silke who was tasked with gathering much of the information as well as sourcing many of the over 220 photographs which appear in this very comprehensive history from the club’s founding year, 1919, up to and including the first season in senior rugby, 2011/2012.
The club has a long and successful history and this book is a must for anyone who has an interest in sport and particularly sport in The City of the Kings, its hinterland and the wider county.
An invitation is extended to all members, players, supporters, sponsors, former players - members, neighbours and the public at large to attend the launch in the clubhouse at Spafield. It promises to be a great night.
The book will be available to patrons and for sale on the night. It comprises 244 pages and at €20 per copy represents excellent value for such an outstanding production. Denis Leamy will perform the official launch.
