Under 8s - Clanwilliam U8s played two separate matches against Fethard due to the large numbers of players from both clubs.
It was a perfect morning for rugby with great passing, running and tackling skills on display from all teams involved. Both games were very even with tries scored by: Jack Ryan, Adam Daly, Fionn O’Grady, Ronan O’Connor, Rory McCall, Michael Moloney, Mathuin Carey and Killian Barlow.
There were some great tackles from Jack Crowe, Caitlin Duddy, Odhran O’Dwyer and Sean Kingston with strong running and crisp passing from Eoin
Horgan and Peter Comerford.
Under 9s - The U9’s had a very exciting game of rugby, with great tackling and ball handling skills on display by both teams, Fethard had some big
ball carriers on the day, but were met head on by some brave tackling from the Clan lads. Well done to all this was a great display of team work, with
everybody working really hard supporting each other, Clan just shaded it in the end. Training continues every Saturday at 10.30am new players always
Under 11s - Clanwilliam U11s played Fethard last Sunday morning in a very exciting match. Both teams were evenly matched with defences on top early on. Adam Dunne scored the first try for Clan and it didn’t take Fethard long to put their first score on the board. With both teams rucking well and space hard to find Anthony Barry scored a great try to put Clan ahead by one score. Fethard were now getting some good position and scored their second
try to leave both teams level. From the kick off Fethard attacked again and were only a few meters from Clan’s try line when Adam Dunne intercepted
a pass and ran the length of the pitch to score.
But once again Fethard fought back and scored to level the game. Others to play well on the day were: Anthony Barry, Dominic Hayes, James Kennedy, Patrick OCallaghan, Aaron Buckley, Jake O’Callaghan and Donagh Hickey. Clan minis train every Saturday morning 10.30am to 12pm all new members welcome.
Under 12s - Clan U12’s entertained Newcastle West on Sunday morning in Collegelands. We played 14-aside and it was a very enjoyable experience.
The forwards worked hard and the backs scored some fine tries. Best on the day were Tom Ratigan, Brian Roche, Noel O’Mahony, Deccie Ryan and David
Kelly. A leg injury in the second half to one of the Newcastle West players stopped the match and all the boys in Clan wish him a speedy recovery.
Thanks to all the parents for their help in the clubhouse after the games
