Late Power try secures win for Fethard RFC

Fethard RFC seniors travelled to Richmond on Saturday last and despite been short many regulars put in a fine performance to win by 20 points to 18.

Fethard RFC seniors travelled to Richmond on Saturday last and despite been short many regulars put in a fine performance to win by 20 points to 18.

William Power scored a try with only minutes remaining after Fethard forwards went through about twenty phases to get into the Richmond 22, when Conor Kavanagh broke blind to feed Kieran Power who off loaded to William who scored in the corner. 


Fethard started very well with a great by Kevin Hayes who found Richie Carroll in support and Richie sprinted clear to score. Declan Doyle landed a fine penalty to leave the half time score 15-8 to Richmond.

Fethard were now dominating exchanges and a fine lineout move saw Chris Bannister score under the post. Doyler converted to leave the score 15-all.

Richmond came back with a penalty but Fethard showed great heart to put the phases together to score the winning try.

Matthew Ryan, Jimmy Pollard, Emmet O’Mahony and John Ryan had fine games for Fethard.
