Cahir’s Tommy O’Donnell has been called into the Irish training camp in advance of Sunday’s Six Nations game against Scotland.

The camp is taking place at Carton House.

The twenty five year old was at home in Cahir when the call came from Ireland Team Manager Mick Kearney and it was a case of, “legging it back for Limerick to pick up the boots and some gear” before setting off for Maynooth in Co Kildare.

It is the latest stage in a meteoric rise for O’Donnell who is now firmly established in the Munster squad and has been one of the side’s top performers this year.

His supporters will hope that he can follow in the footsteps of fellow Tipperary and Munster legends Alan Quinlan and Denis Leamy amd break through to the Irish squad and eventually make the team,
