Carrick United made it three wins from three in the Waterford League Premier Division with a 3-0 win over Waterford Crystal

Again they played some nice football, being in charge for most of the game. Carrick’s early play deserved a lead goal long before Lee Grace’s shot cannoned off the home keeper and into the net. Carrick continued to put the home defence under strong pressure and were rewarded when Alan Coady saw his cross deflected in the net by an under pressure home defender. In the second half the pace dropped but Carrick continued to have more of the play. Anthony Power got the half’s only goal ten minutes from time.

The squads early season good form will be tested at Tramore next Sunday at 11am

Under 12 A League

Tramore 1 Carrick United 5

We knew that this would be a tough game as it was a repeat of last years’ U11A Cup Final. Carrick played with the breeze in the first half and made good use of it to go in at half time 3-0 up. Luke opened the scoring after 10 minutes, firing an unstoppable shot, high to the roof of the net from 25 yards out. A short time later Carrick got a free kick some 20 yards out. Again Luke found the net, his free kick proving too hot to handle for the unfortunate home keeper. Before half time James D and James P combined brilliantly and when the ball was crossed in front of the Tramore goal, Mikie put great pressure on the home defence and the ball was forced home.

In the second half we tried to keep the ball more against the wind. Tramore became more physical and asked a lot of questions of the boys. Christy stood firm in the middle of the back, ably assisted by Zach in goal. Mark scored a peach of a goal following a corner and we looked comfortable enough. However, Tramore did not give up and a good run down the left resulted in a Tramore player smashing the ball home...1-4 now and if Tramore scored again we could be in trouble! James P, however, steadied the ship and ran on to a great through ball to calmly slot the ball past the Tramore keeper.

Under 11 C League

Carrick Utd C 1 De La Salle B 4

These boy got their first taste of league football on Saturday morning at Tom Drohan Park. This young team played very well taking the lead early with a well taken goal from Glen Power. As the game went on Del La Sale got on top and scored 4 good goals. We were unlucky to find ourselves behind after playing good football. A special mention to our keeper Glen Cooke who pulled off some fantastic saves.
