Eight teams compete in John Delaney County Cup

The draw for the John Delaney County Cup was made and it will see four teams from the Tipperary Southern & District League in action against four teams from the North Tipperary and District League.

This competition which in its second season is named in honour of FAI CEO John Delaney, a former St. Michael’s of Tipperary town player who has been involved in the promotion of soccer in the Premier County at the highest level.

The competition is kindly sponsored by Darren Ward Jewellers, 1, Main Street, Cahir, who incidentally were also sponsors of the Joe Delaney Youth Cup that was recently won by Cahir Park.

The competition this season is a straight forward knock-out with the opening round on August 7, the semi-finals on August 12 with the Final on August 21.

It will see inaugural winners St. Michael’s at home to Cloughjordan. Beaten finalists Nenagh AFC are away to Clonmel Celtic. Two sides from the TSDL making their debut are Cashel Town away to Blackcastle United in Templemore and Wilderness Rovers away to Nenagh Celtic.
