We began our campaign in Tom Drohan Park with a scoreless draw after creating numerous chances with no end product. Many gilt edge opportunities were spurned in a one sided encounter.

Waterford Crystal 1 Carrick Utd. 2

On Sunday last we got our first three points beating a resolute Crystal side. It was scoreless at the break after a half dominated by Carrick with many chances created and missed. From a corner Anthony O Donnell’s powerful far post header put us ahead on 51 mins. It was ten mins. before the end when Ian Cleary made it two after a Lee Wall pass. The home side got one back before the end to make it a nervous finish.

Good to see Youths players coming through with impressive performances all round.

Kilmacow 4-2 Carrick united

We started our league campaign with a poor display and result with a host of new players in the team. We conceded after 2 mins. following poor decision making on the ball in midfield.

After this we settled down well and equalised from a Damien McCarthy pen .

We then took the lead mid-way through the half with a fine finish from Sean Dowley .

This was the summit of our day as we just didn’t command anything from here in, the home team levelled just before the break.

The attitude at the break was relaxed, uninterested and flat from nearly all the players, this resulted in the

home team dominating the second half and running out easy winners.

Much better is needed in training and a willingness to work as a team and to accept responsibility for poor attitude and performance. We have a big panel so we will see the reaction next Friday against Tycor.
