BANSHA CELTIC 1 CAHIR PARK 2

Cahir Park kept their hopes of lifting their first Youth League title since 1982 alive after getting the better of Bansha Celtic by the odd goal in five at Celtic Park, Bansha last Sunday.

This was an even game with both teams having chances, but the better football came from Cahir Park throughout the ninety minutes. The breakthrough came for Cahir Park in the 35th minute when a free kick into the box that was headed home at the back post by the unmarked John O’Connor to give the visitors a 1-0 interval lead.

Cahir Park, who are undefeated to date, continued to have the upper hand after the changeover and went 2-0 up on 55 minutes when Darren McGrath shot low from close range. To their credit Bansha Celtic did not drop their heads and got a goal back late in the game on 84 mins when the ball broke for Ethan Rodgers to score from 18 yards out. Bansha tried to find an equalizer but Cahir Park held on for the win and keep the pressure on undefeated leaders Clonmel Town.
