CAHIR PARK 3 GLENGOOLE UNITED 0
The Cahir Park bandwagon kept rolling on progressing to the last eight of the Paddy Purtill Cup overcoming the challenge of Glengoole United in a game that was switched from Glengoole to Cahir last Sunday.
Cahir Park, who qualified for the Shield Division 1 semi-finals seven days earlier with a 1-0 victory over Moyglass United, got off to a flyer scoring after just 3 minutes. Paddy O’Donnell saw his initial shot stopped by the ‘keeper but he was on hand to fire the rebound into an unguarded net.
Cahir Park continued to enjoy the majority of the play and it came as no surprise when the home side made it 2-0 after 22 minutes. Paddy O’Donnell was again on the mark, this time rounding the ‘keeper following a well weighted pass from Norman O’Brien. This game was put to bed after 38 minutes when Paddy O’Donnell turned from scorer to provider setting up fellow striker Eamon Wotton to lead 3-0 at the halfway stage. With the Cahir Park team a much tougher proposition well on top Glengoole United found it impossible to pull this game out of the fire throughout an uneventful second half.
