Killenaule 3 Clerihan 2.
Played in Clonmel’s Celtic Park, a very closely contested Tipperary Senior Cup final looked like it was going into extra time until Killenaule got the decisive goal against the run of play with five minutes to go.
Killenaule got off to a great start with an early goal when Roisin Trehy tapped in a nice cross from Katie O’Regan.
But Clerihan had a reply within five minutes when Tina Mulcathy finished off the move of the match with a well taken goal.
Clerihan scored again ten minutes into the second half with an excellent strike again from Tina Mulcathy, but this time Killenaule replied through second half sub Cliona O’Dwyer.
Clerihan put on a lot of pressure and looked more likely to score and just as it looked like the game was heading into extra time, Edel O’Dwyer punished a Clerihan defensive mistake and Killenaule won the Tipperary Senior Cup for the second year in a row.
Tina Mulcahy (Clerihan) was presented with player of the match trophy and Katie O’Regan (Killenaule) received the Tipperary Player of the Year for 2011.
