Carrick United remain unbeaten after seven games

Premier League

Ferrybank 1 Carrick United 3

The Premier squad continued their good start to the season with an impressive 3-1 win at Ferrybank last Friday night. Two well taken goals midway into the opening half was reward for some excellent attacking play. Shane Butler got the first after some slick passing at the edge of the home penalty area. Anthony Power bagged the second with a powerful drive from distance that took a deflection into the net.

Carrick played football that was pleasing on the eye and could have added to their first half tally. The game continued in the same vein for most of the second half with the home side always competing well. First half sub John James Keys scored a delightful third with a cracking volley. Ferrybank pulled a goal back late on.

The boys have won six and drawn one of their opening seven league game matching the results of league holders and title favourites Tramore. Next Sunday the boys play their first home game in six outings at home to Hibernians in the FAI Junior Cup 2nd round.

Under 11 C League

Carrick United 3 Ferrybank 1

A hard fought win over a good Ferrybank team. Francis Roche opened the scoring with a superb free kick from outside the box after only three minutes. On twenty minutes Paudie Fahey drove the ball to the net with an equally well struck shot. It was 3-0 on 35 minutes when a cross from Reece O’Mahony that was heading into the net was touched home by Glen Power. Ferrybank pulled a goal back in the second half. Good displays here from Barry Power, Conor Wells and Peter Walsh.
