Carrick United were knocked out of the FAI Junior Cup at the last 16 stage for the sixth season running in disappointing fashion in Limerick last Sunday.

They lost 1-0 to highly rated Limerick side Ballynanty Rovers.

It was 0-0 at half time following a half of few chances and United more than matched Rovers in the second half.

Extra time was looming amid sometimes frantic play when Rovers won a corner.  Carrick for once failed to deal with the ball as it hopped about, bouncing off a few players before ending in the net. A poor goal summing up the game.  Carrick fought gallantly in the remaining time forcing a number of corners but it was not to be.
