As with Paddy Purtill, people like Peter O’Reilly laid the foundations for Tipperary soccer as we see it to-day.

How fitting the teams that finished first and second in the third division should meet in the final.

These two were undoubtedly the best of the competitors and worthy finalists. There is nothing between them and it is difficult to chose a winner. Neither have won the trophy before and getting to the final is an achievement in itself.

But there can be just one winner and the question is who will hold the trophy aloft on Sunday.

Ballypatrick made it to the final two years ago but were beaten by Tipperary Town.

They know the feeling of getting beaten in a decider and want to reverse that now. They already have the third division trophy and want to complete the double.

For Redmondstown it is their big day. They are very happy with their season securing promotion but would like a bit of silverware.

They will relish this opportunity. It’s a game to the finish with extra time and penalties if necessary. The final will be played at the Bypass Road Clonmel (Clonmel Celtic ground). Kick off is 3pm
