A solid opening day performance with some nice football saw Carrick United beat Bohemians 3-0. The goals came from Alan Coady, Anthony O’Donnell and Shane Butler. The first goal resulted from some lovely ground football and swift passing. Adrian Walsh made some vital saves at important times during the game. Brian will be happy with this win, the squad looks strong with some lads missing and injured.
Johnville 1 Carrick Utd. 4
A very impressive opening half saw Carrick play some great football complemented with two fine goals from Anthony O’Donnell and Shane Butler. Johnville scored a cracking individual goal just before the interval to reduce the arrears. Carrick never hit the same heights in a disappointing second half. Some anxious moments were encountered before late goals from Ian Cleary and Eoin Burke sealed victory. Anthony Power set up the late strikes. United are away to Crystal next Sunday at 11am

Division 2 B League
Carrick 2 Tycor 1
The second division side opened up their season with a hard fought win over Tycor in Tom Drohan Park on Saturday. Carrick had the better of the opening exchanges despite fielding a lot of new players in their side. Chances were at a premium but Carrick opened the scoring through a wonderfully taken free kick from Mark Kelly who curled his effort into the left hand corner from 25 yards. Tycor push after conceding and got their reward with a tap in goal from a knock down coming from a long range free kick. The third goal was always going to be crucial and it went Carrick’s way 10 minutes from time as Darren O’Brien played in Anthony Grace down the right, the full back crossed expertly to Brian Faulkner who flicked the ball into the top corner from 8 yards.
Under 12 A League
Carrick United 8 Piltown 1
First competitive game of the season for these young stars and first game on full size pitch with 11 a side!
We started slowly, taking time to adjust to a bigger pitch and found ourselves one down at half time! Luke and Mark got a good grip on midfield and started to find Dillon and Eoghan out wide. Tom and Christy dominated the middle of the back, well supported by Joey and Ian in the full back positions. Adam dealt comfortably with anything that came his way in goal and could do nothing about the lofted shot from the edge of the box that put the visitors one up.
The second half saw the team grow in confidence. James Power came on up front to display his full array of skills, a delicate lob over the keeper to equalise, a run at the defence and a pass past the keeper for another, a brilliant header following a smart run and a fourth piledriver to cap an incredible display of goal scoring prowess, four goals in twenty minutes!! Zach and Aidan added power and skill to the midfield, while Jamie and James D caused plenty of problems on the right and left hand sides. Dillon, who looked like he could beat anybody on a one to one, grabbed two lovely goals in the second half. Eoghan scored a delightful lob from outside the box and Tom scored with a powerful header from a Jamie corner.
