Peake Villa secured their place in the semi-final of the Tipperary Youth Cup with a hard fought victory against Clerihan FC at the Community Recreational Centre, Clerihan last Saturday.

In what was a closely fought tie it saw Peake Villa getting the breakthrough after 14 minuteswhen good approach work ended with Mattie Stakelum scoring. Peake Villa looked in control of affairs when Adam Garret made it 2-0 on 38 minutes to give the Mid Tipp side a comfortable lead at the halfway point.

After the changeover, Clerihan began getting the upper hand and it led to an exciting final ten minutes. Clerihan reduced the deficit to a single goal when Sean Hassey scored after 84 minutes. However, just when Clerihan looked like they might force extra-time Peake Villa got the insurance score on 87 minutes when a Clerihan player inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
