U13 Emerging Talent Programme

On Sunday December 2 the TSSDL U13 ETP squad played their first challenge match of the season against Wexford. Last year this squad travelled to Wexford and so they returned the compliment this season and came up to Clonmel on a day that turned out to be very cold and wet but this did not deter any of the players as they all showed great enthusiasm to put on a very good performance for those brave enough to turn up and watch both matches.
As the TSSDL had a panel of 24 boys to select from two full games were played which gave all of the squad a good test. Both South Tipp teams did themselves proud with the energy and ability they displayed.

The first game ended in a draw but unfortunately the TSSDL were beaten in the second game. However, the score line was never the measure of our development. The boys were asked to take their learning from the previous 5 weeks of training and bring it to their game. Great encouragement was taken in that all 24 of the boys did exactly that. At times the football played by the boys was very controlled and positive and caused Wexford a lot of trouble.

No one player could be singled out above the others as we asked for a squad display and from what we got we now know we have a very good squad of players to work with for the remainder of the season.
We look forward to some good training sessions and a few more challenge games against different opposition in preparation for the Munster tournament in March 2013. In the mean time the final training session of the year will be on Dec 16th and the squad shall return to training on Jan 13th 2013 at 10am in Ferryhouse Clonmel.
The management team looking after the U13 ETP would like to thank all the parents that have supported us with the ETP programme and wish you all a Merry Christmas and very happy New Year.
