U16a Ballinroad 0 Carrick utd 3
We went down to Ballinroad with a point to prove after a very poor showing in our last game at home to Bohs, where we lost 2-0. Due to a lot of Gaa fixtures we found it hard to field a team and only had the 11 players travelling.
From the start of the game it was clear there was only going to be one outcome, as we owned the ball from start to finish. Our first goal came after 10 min from a free kick in our own half from James O’Neill who spotted the run from Brandon O’Sullivan, who controlled the ball and finished with great confidence. Sam Grace was next to score 10 min from half time after a shot from Brandon O’Sullivan hit the upright and Sam was in the right place to finish calmly. Second half saw Carrick create chance after chance with Kyle Doherty also hitting the upright. 20 min from time the game was ended as a contest when Luke Quinlan got up for a powerful header from a free kick but to be denied by the crossbar and it fell to Stephen Lehart to tap in. Big thanks to Josh Ellis from the u15s who stood in at the last min to fill our team and played a great game. Well done to all involved for a very good performance and looking forward to next Thursday night when we play Villa away
