Community Games

Community Games have now completed several activities in preparation for the Munster Finals which will take place in the University of Limerick on Saturday, March 31.

Unfortunately the South Champions in all four categories of the Indoor Soccer were defeated in the County Finals in very competitive and exciting matches. Toomevara defeated Moycarkey Borris in the U13 boys match, while Newport completed a hat trick defeating Lattin Cullen in the girls u13 game, Moycarkey Borris in the boys u15 game and Powerstown Lisronagh in the girls u15 match.

Cashel reached the County Final of the boys u13 and u15 boys Handball but were pipped at the post by Cloughjordan and Newport respectively.

Lattin Cullen also suffered defeat by Newport in the county final of the u10 Draughts but succeeded in winning the u12 competition beating Silvermines.

The u14 Table Quiz held in Thurles resulted in a win for the host area, runners up were from Tipperary Town and the bronze medals were won by Moycarkey Borris.

There was very positive feedback regarding the success of the County Finals of the Art and Model Making held in the Presentation Secondary School in Clonmel last weekend, thanks to the trojan work of Andy Griffin and his team. Apologies to the Community Games youth group from Clonmel consisting of Fionula Hoctor, Sorcha Griffin, Yvonne and Dominika who spent all afternoon registering the competitors, recording contact numbers, making sure all children were safely collected and dealing with endless queries. These young ladies who are approaching the upper age limit to compete in the games are a credit to their areas and gave a perfect example of the vocation of volunteers, long may they remain with us.

Finally thanks to Mary Griffin who looked after everybody so well.
