The TSSDL Emerging Talent U/14 Kennedy Cup squad are gearing up for an almighty challenge in taking on the U/14 club teams from three English clubs with a massive tradition in the game.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for the lads involved. They are a great group of boys who have worked very hard since they joined the emerging talent set up three years ago and they deserve this trip of a lifetime,” said David Lenane, FAI Development Officer for South Tipperary.

Players from Clonmel Town, Cahir Park, Clerihan, Bansha Celtic, St.Michaels. Peake Villa and St. Kevins will embark on the trip on Easter Monday and will return the following Thursday.

Playing these high quality teams in a such a packed schedule is seen as a perfect means of preparation for the prestigious week long Kennedy Cup event which will be held in University of Limerick in June.

“The Kennedy Cup is the pinnacle for schoolboy players. It is the biggest competition they will play in as schoolboys and the games in England will be a huge help to us for that competition,” said David Lenane.

They will play at the main training bases at Stoke, Derby and Nottingham Forest as well as taking in a Premier league game between Wolves and Arsenal and the itinerary also includes going to see Burton Albion play Morecambe.
