Nominated recently in the Irish Times 25 Best Places to Holiday in Ireland, the Glen of Aherlow will host its annual walking festival over the June Bank Holiday weekend from May 31 to June 3.
All walks are graded and led by experienced guides from the Galtee Walking Club. Walks in the A and B categories will take you on the high Galtees while C walks, for the casual walker, will follow the national loops on Slievenamuck or the lower Galtees, giving the opportunity to enjoy the heritage and culture of the Glen.

Organised by the Glen of Aherlow Fáilte Society and the Galtee Walking Club, this is one of Ireland’s leading walking festivals. Enjoy the delights of the natural environment with mountains and lakes, fresh air, interaction with fellow walkers and fun and merriment with nightly entertainment. A courtesy bus is available on the Saturday night, and all details are available at registration.
In the region of 600 walkers are expected over the three days. Local tourism providers, who are part of the Walkers Welcome Initiative, are offering a superb attractive weekend deal for the festival in The Glen, with prices starting from €30 for B&B.
